Two Loggerheads Head Home

The N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher continues to care for several cold-stunned sea turtles that arrived at the Aquarium on New Years Day from New England. Some of the loggerhead sea turtles recovered quickly and were returned to the sea. The turtles still in temporary residence at the Aquarium are making daily progress. You’re invited to learn more about these animals in the specially scheduled Sea Turtle Rehab Tours.

Behind the Scenes with Injured Loggerhead Sea Turtles

Friday, January 25 at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m.; Saturday, January 26 at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.; Sunday, January 27 at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour to learn more about a special group of loggerhead sea turtles receiving care at the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher. The sea turtles were injured in a mass cold-stunning event along the New England coast in early December and traveled to the Aquarium at Fort Fisher on New Year’s Day. This is a rare opportunity to see this threatened species up close and learn more about the daily care they receive from our dedicated husbandry staff. This is a limited opportunity as the turtles will return to the wild as soon as they are healthy.
